Street Light Project - Johannesburg, South Africa Project Overview
Street light accounts for around 24% of the energy consumed by South African municipalities and contributes 28% carbon emissions, according to SEED Urban data, 2008. South African cities have been investigating more efficient and longer life span LED street lights to replace traditional High Intensity Discharge (HID) lights.
Our 100W high power LED street light was implemented by the city of Johannesburg to review the applicability and affordability of the technology in the city. With our patented thermal management system which uses superior heat sink designs to dissipate heat and keep junction temperature as low as possible, and the cutting-edge driver module technology provides steady current to maximize the performance potential of LEDs. The long life of the street lighting expectation is feasible.
The light is highly directional which avoids the area not desired to be lighted. The total energy saving achieved about 70%.
